Summer Road Trip Guide
Whether you’re traveling 50 miles, 500 miles, or more, ensure that you are ready for the adventure ahead. Before beginning your trip, be sure to:
- Be sure your insurance information card is in your vehicle.
- Ensure that each tire is filled to the manufacturer’s recommended inflation pressure listed in your owner’s manual. *
- Check fluid levels for brakes, automatic transmission, power steering, and windshield washer. *
- Stock your vehicle with emergency kit contents such as a tire pressure gauge, jumper cables, a flashlight, etc.*
In the case of an accident, follow these steps:
- Move the vehicle and passengers to a safe location, if possible, and turn your car hazards on.
- Call the police.
- Gather information (contact info from other drivers, license plates, etc.). Do not get out of your vehicle unless you can do so safely.
- Obtain photos and videos if possible.
- Do not discuss details with anyone besides the police officer.
